Purple Apples Have The Internet Going Crazy (But They Aren’t Real)
Purple apples from Saskatchewan have the internet going crazy! The only catch? They aren’t real and are made by A.I.
You might have seen this online and you might even be one of the people who went to Saskatchewan in hopes of obtaining one of the trending purple apples. If so, that’s a bummer because you’ve been duped by the internet. These apples aren’t real and are actually made by artificial intelligence. It’s a major let down, I know.
Are The Trending Saskatchewan Purple Apples Real?
An image showing purple apples said to “originate from Saskatchewan” are going viral online leading many people to want and get themselves one, per CTV News. You can’t blame them! The apples look incredibly delicious! They’re vibrant, purple, and sitting on a cutting board revealing the violet flesh of the fruit. It’s incredible and it’s unlike any apple you’ve ever seen. Of course, that’s probably because you can’t see apples like this out there in reality. However, with artificial intelligence anything is possible!
Many people have gone out searching for the apples and their quests have all ended in disappointment. Rachelle Hofmeister, a horticulturist at Dutch Growers in Regina tells CTV News, “We’ve had lots of apples that have been developed in Saskatchewan, but none of them are purple. They all have white flesh and red skin.” Looking at the images now knowing that they aren’t real makes a lot more sense. We should have known these are not real–they’re just too vibrant! Pretty crazy isn’t it? It would be awesome if they were real and actually existed but for now all we have is this picture to look at and imagine how it would taste. Pretty wild, eh? I picture it like a blueberry apple, personally. The picture even comes with a descriptive caption that’s also all lies! It even claims that these apples’ “vibrant purple exterior hides a richly colored interior, making them prized ingredients, particularly in the creation of purple applesauce.” Purple applesauce? Do they know how awesome that would be? Who wouldn’t want to eat purple applesauce? The fake caption even goes on to talk about the economic impact these apples have, or would have. I think it would be huge! Just like when Heinz came out with purple ketchup! That was amazing and a great moment in time.
