Illinois Grandma’s Birthday Cake Becomes Fire Hazard At Party
A Grandma’s birthday cake quickly turned into a fire hazard as her family was celebrating her 80th birthday. Next time maybe go with less candles?
Having the number of candles on your birthday cake match your age can be a cute thing to do…if you’re under 20. After that there becomes too many candles and it can be a problem. 80 candles on a cake presents a whole new problem entirely. Grandma’s birthday cake started a fire at the party!
Did A Grandma’s Birthday Cake Start A Fire?
The incident seems to have happened in the state of Illinois. I think we can all agree unless you’re getting Grandma the biggest cake ever, 80 candles is probably too many for a single cake. Maybe use the candles to make the shape of 80? Maybe buy the one single candle that says 80? There are many better options that they could have gone with, and I bet they’re wishing they would have right about now.
In the video that’s going viral online, grandma struggled to blow out the 80 candles (as you’d likely suspect) and then they quickly became a fire hazard. They had to smash them all down with a plate to put the fire out. Poor Grandma probably didn’t even get to enjoy her cake the way it should have been enjoyed, it was likely a bit burnt tasting! That’s what happens when you try to fit 80 candles on there! Check out the viral video on X (formerly Twitter) below.
According to caption titles in the video, the incident happened at a family home in Highland, Illinois. The family really struggled to put out the fire, it was almost as if they were using those trick candles. Less candles would be very beneficial next time. However, the cake was more in tact than I expected to to be after all it went through. They might have been able to eat it! I thought they were going to have to smash the cake to put out the fire and it would have turned grandma’s 80th birthday cake into her 1st birthday cake with those cake smashes that kids do. Thankfully, everyone was okay and there was no damage from the fire.
They seemed to be in good spirits about it and never freaked out. I would have noticed problems coming as soon as I saw that cake coming. It was on fire and there were way too many candles, even going by the eye. This was an accident just waiting to happen.
