Has There Been An Iconic Quotable Comedy Movie In The Last Decade?
Has there been an iconic quotable comedy movie made in the last decade? I’ll give you a minute to think.
I don’t think there has been. I want there to be. Honestly, I hope I’m wrong, but can you think of one? I’m not talking about a comedy that made you laugh or made money in the box office. I’m talking about a classic, iconic movie that everyone could quote and you knew what they were talking about. I can’t think of one in the last 10 years–can you?
What Was The Last Quotable Comedy Movie?
What do you think was the last quotable comedy movie? Let’s see here, Step Brothers was filled with lines we were all quoting constantly. “Did we just become best friends?” and quotes about the Catalina Wine Mixer just to name a couple. However, that was back in 2008. The Hangover had some pretty popular quotes. I feel like anything Alan said during the movie became an instant quote. Unfortunately, that was 2009. Bridesmaids had some lines we were quoting, especially from the infamous bathroom and airplane scenes. That was 2011, though.
I can’t think of a quotable comedy movie in the last decade. There have been quotes from TV shows. I know Larry David has us all dropping “pretty, pretty, pretty good” and some of his other favorite lines from Curb Your Enthusiasm. I know there were also some lines from Silicon Valley on HBO that had many people quoting about “this guy.” However, not movies. There have even been TikTok videos and Instagram Reels we could quote–but not a movie.
Am I just missing the movie? Is it slipping my mind? It’s driving me crazy and I am now fearing that the comedy movie might be a thing of the past. Could I just be showing my age and maybe I’m not hearing all of the quotes? I don’t think so. I feel like I would know if a must-see instant-classic comedy movie has come out in the last 10 years. It seems like we aren’t living in the age of the comedy star like we had in the late 90s when Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler were dropping hit after hit in the box office. Can you name a quotable comedy movie that was released in the last 10 years? Let us know! What can you think of? I feel like it’s been since Bridesmaids in 2011 but I really hope I’m wrong (and I don’t say that often). See my take below!
