The Hardy Boys

I had the opportunity to sit down with Jeff and Matt Hardy, better known as The Hardy Boys, ahead of TNA's Bound for Glory event in Detroit. The brothers shared their thoughts on a variety of topics, including their upcoming Full Metal Mayhem match, their career highlights, and their fond memories of wrestling in Detroit.

As soon as we started, the Hardys expressed their excitement for being in Detroit. Matt Hardy said, "We're really excited to be in Detroit. Saturday is Bound for Glory, and it's the biggest show of the year for TNA." This weekend's event will feature the Hardys in action, and Detroit's own Rhino will be honored as he's inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.

The Hardy Boys Speak Of The Weekend In Detroit

Matt quickly praised Rhino: "He's had a lot of amazing contributions to TNA over the years. But Jeff and I are also excited about our own moment. We're doing Full Metal Mayhem for the TNA World Tag Team Titles, and we want to cement our legacy as one of the greatest tag teams of all time."

Jeff added that this match might be more important than ever for him. "It could be my last match ever. Being world champions again is something that's in my system, my soul. This could very well be my last Full Metal Mayhem match," Jeff said, noting that after over three decades in the business, every match holds a little more weight.

The Hardy Boys On Their Legacy

Their legacy started over 25 years ago, and Matt said, "The first tag team ladder match was against Edge and Christian, and that's the match that put us on the map. It's wild to think how far we've come since then."

"The younger guys are amazing. I've seen moves that look like they came straight out of a video game." Jeff talked about the younger wrestlers out now and how impressed he is with them, talking about how one performed a Swanton 450—a move he couldn't stop talking about.

Matt added, "TNA has such a great roster right now. Guys like Leon Slater and Speedball Mike Bailey are doing incredible things. We're up against Ace Austin and Chris Bey (ABC) this weekend, and it's cool because they remind us of Edge and Christian. It's like we're back in the old TLC days."

When asked about Detroit, Matt talked about the legendary Joe Louis Arena: "Detroit has always been a special place for us. Coming to the Joe, being a part of this city—it's always meant a lot to me." Jeff added, "Rhino was part of one of our huge TLC matches back in the day here. Detroit always brings back those memories."

To wrap things up, I asked the Hardys about the best advice they've given each other over the years. Matt shared a touching story about Jeff convincing him to stay close to their family: "Jeff told me to stay near home, near our dad, instead of moving closer to the airport. That was some of the best advice he ever gave me."

Jeff said Matt helped shape his wrestling persona: "Matt's the one who came up with 'The Charismatic Enigma,' and that name has stuck with me ever since."

With Bound for Glory right around the corner, the Hardys are ready for what could be a defining moment in their storied careers. Detroit will witness wrestling history this weekend, whether it’s their last Full Metal Mayhem match or the beginning of a new chapter.
