New Jersey Man Breaks Record For Playing ‘World Of Warcraft’ For Over 78 Hours
A New Jersey man now holds 2 world records after playing World Of Warcraft for more than 78 hours! Was it worth it?
It takes a lot of effort to obtain a world record. Not everyone can do it. Typically, you have to have a very unique set of skills to make it into the Guinness Book Of World Records. However, this guy managed to set 2 records in one sitting. Granted, said sitting was more than 78 hours long.

Doing something for 78 hours is a long time. Even your favorite activity or hobby would become boring and stale after 3-and-a-quater days. However, that didn’t stop this guy from pulling it off.
According to UPI, Justin O’Donnell, a Marine Corps veteran, played World Of Warcraft for 78 hours and 30 minutes. However, there is a bit of a catch. He was allowed to take a 5-minute break every hour but he ended up always using that rest time to eat and play with his dogs instead of getting some shut eye, per UPI. I’m sure the dogs were happy about that. You’d definitely have some restless dogs after playing video games for 3 days. Just because you’re occupied doesn’t mean they no longer have to pee, poop, eat, or get exercise.
I imagine his eyeballs had to have been killing him! Even after a brief hour or 2 video game session, my eyeballs are on fire and I’m feeling it. He did much, much more playing than a mere 2 hours.
Via UPI, O’Donnell tells Guinness World Records, “I got physically tired, not so much mentally. I don’t suffer from a lot of the typical issues when I’m awake for so long, like lethargy and hearing things. Some people start to slur their words and might even be mistaken for intoxicated–I typically don’t get any of that.” Granted, he is a Marine so I’m sure he’s gone through much worse things than sitting there playing video games. He’s equipped to handle that stress.
During the extended session, he broke not one–but 2 world records. According to UPI, his marathon broke the world record for the longest video game marathon playing World Of Warcraft, which previously stood at 59 hours and 20 minutes. Additionally, he took the record for the longest video game marathon playing an MMORPG. Two birds with one stone! Congratulations, Mr. O’Donnell!
