Parent’s Prank Leads To A School Lockdown

Can you imagine your school having to lockdown because of your parent’s prank? Well, it happened to a student in Lorain County, Ohio!

One parent thought it would be funny to dress up as Bigfoot and run past classroom windows. What the parent failed to consider is how schools aren’t taking any threat lightly. Here’s more on the story.

Parent’s Prank Backfires At School

According to WKYC, classes at the Firelands Local School District in Henrietta Township were disrupted after a person entered campus dressed in a Bigfoot costume. The video was shared on Facebook and is now going viral showing the Bigfoot running past classroom windows.

Sure, it could be funny for some. However, there were reportedly some kids outside who didn’t know what was going on who got a little spooked. The incident led to Firelands Superintendent Michael Von Gunten to release a statement saying in part, “The individual parked in one of our lots, crossed our campus and caused the district to enter into a lockdown. During this time, some students at our elementary school were outside and had to move quickly inside to safety. The school day was negatively impacted and although lockdown drills are practiced regularly, the situation caused understandable concern and disruption.”

Turns out, the person in the Bigfoot costume was a parent of one of the students at the school. No charges have been filed at this time but a report has been sent to the Oberlin Prosecutor’s Office to review the parent’s prank.

Can’t help but wonder how the student is going to feel about this. Even if they found it funny and enjoyable they now have to deal with the aftermath. Kids are embarrassed easily and I’m sure this will have some repercussions. I remember on my 18th birthday I was still in High School and my mom secretly brought t-shirts in for my teachers to wear with my young face on them. I was mortified! I still think about it all the time. However, years later I can appreciate the prank. Hopefully, this student will one day appreciate their parent’s prank. Additionally, hopefully no students were scared or traumatized by the incident.

April Fool’s Day is almost here and we’re celebrating with the best celebrity pranks! Sure, we don’t care for April Fool’s Day very much around here at Dave & Chuck “The Freak.” It’s not our sense of humor–but there have been some pranks executed that we can appreciate.

There are no shortage of prank programming on TV and the internet. The art of the prank is as old as time; however, it does seem to be evolving.

Growing up, we had Ashton Kutcher’s Punk’d on MTV. For many of us that was our introduction to pranks. Some of the biggest celebrities were pranked in hilarious fashion on that show. You had Justin Timberlake (we’ll get to that later), Shaq, Kanye West, and more all getting pranked on camera. It was a fantastic show. The remake didn’t quite live up to the original.

Now, The Impractical Jokers are incredibly popular. They do different kinds of pranks than we saw on shows like Punk’d. Instead of messing with celebrities, they mess with strangers and it’s one of the funniest shows currently airing on TV. Personally, I’m a huge fan.

Pranks are a big part of Late Night TV, as well. We’ve seen all of the hosts execute pranks. Jimmy Kimmel definitely does a lot and James Corden had some of the best I’ve seen, as well.

Of course, pranks aren’t always funny. You have to know your audience and there should be an agreed upon set of rules. Making a friend cry might sound funny at the time, but it can be traumatic. That’s why many people dread April Fool’s Day. Sometimes, you might want to leave stuff like that to the professionals. Not everyone is cut out to be Ashton Kutcher, as much as I would love that face on mine. I mean, I’d love to have his face.

    I admit, I was never the biggest James Corden fan. However, this is one of the best things he ever did. It’s truly hilarious. It’s such a well-executed prank. David Beckham is receiving a gift, so he can’t be mean about it…but at the same time he has to say something! He’s put in such an awkward moment and hilarity ensues.

    Speaking of James Corden, he may be known for the pranks he pulled but sometimes the pranker becomes the prankee! Katie Couric got him good on this one. I love the way he panics. Good on Katie. He had this coming.

  • Jennifer Aniston

    How could you not love Jennifer Aniston? She’s friendly, adorable, and an icon. She’s also hilarious and a good sport. She’s put in an awkward situation with this interview and comes out on top. I love her.

  • John Krasinski

    John Krasinski and Jimmy Kimmel had some funny Prank Wars. The pair dished out prank after prank. However, this one stands above the rest. All of them are great, but I always found this one funny. Check out the whole collection!

    Countless celebrities were pranked on Punk’d. However, one stands above all the rest. Unfortunately, that’s Justin Timberlake. He was pranked so badly he was brought to tears…on national television. I’m honestly surprised he signed the release waiver! It goes to show he’s a good sport. He comes off more likable in the end and more relatable. That’s tough for one of the biggest celebrities in the world! Especially at that time! It’s one of the best celebrity pranks ever.
