After going 15 and 0, and scoring a National Championship, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh says he's probably commemorating the remarkable season with some ink. Asked about it during the post-game press conference, the coach confirmed. Referencing his left arm he said, "I did say that to our players. I said, "Ya know, if we go 15-0, I'm getting a tattoo"' I guess now he'll have to buck up.

He went on to say that on the other arm, there might be something different. As he pointed to his right arm he said "And then an M too, a maize and blue M."

I'm a believer in getting ink of something no one can take away from you. No one can take away his perfect season, for him and his players. His time at Michigan, even if it's over, is something he'll remember for the rest of his life. There's quite a bond built with your team when you win at any level you play at.

I play hockey with lots of guys who have championship tattoos. On many, it's the only ink they have. You see it in sports of all kinds. Last year, Jack Eichel from the Las Vegas Golden Knights had the Stanley Cup, along with the Knights' emblem tattooed on his left thigh. Hey, if you earned it, get the ink! That is only one example of many throughout all kinds of different sports.

On another note, a huge congratulations to the Michigan Wolverines and their fan base. Many entities were trying to take away from this team all year. They seemed to put their heads down, get the job done at every turn, and kept moving forward. That can be a heavy burden for kids going to school and whatnot, but they got it done! The whole administration should be proud of how this team conducted themselves throughout the season. Job well done!

A Look Back On 2023 In Pictures & A Big THANK YOU – Meltdown

Wow, what a 2023 it's been. A huge THANK YOU to all of you for making it a great year. From the outdoor shows at The Michigan Lottery Amphitheater to a bunch at Pine Knob, the LCA, Ford Field, and more, it's been a fun year. There were a lot of great outdoor concerts.

Highlights for me include heading down to Nashville for Kid Rock's Comedy Jam in April. It's always fun going to Nashville, extra fun when Rock is involved. The opening of the new District 142 was fantastic. I got to see a bunch of old friends and even brought my daughter along for the show featuring Uncle Kracker and Leigh and Nick from Pop Evil. And, I mean, how can you top Metallica at Ford Field in November!? Here are some pictures from the entire weekend. That's just the tip of the live concert iceberg from the past twelve months. There were many killer WRIF shows to keep Detroit rockin'!

Of course, I put a bunch of miles on my Harley Davidson. That's a constant in my life every summer. I love to ride to faraway places and feel the breeze on my knees. Here's where I went last summer. I also pounded lots of miles on my other two-wheeled machine, my street bicycle. I love to ride and get lost just peddling away. Sounds crazy, I know. Riding through the upper peninsula was fun, I'll be doing that again in the future!

I hope 2024 brings each and every one of you everything you could've ever wanted. Thank you as always for treating me so well here on the World Wide Web, out at concerts, at bar events, or anywhere else we meet. Know that I love talking with all of you rockers!

I hope next year is your best year ever!

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
