Getting Halloween Family Pictures Just Right

Halloween pictures capture some of the most memorable moments in our lifetime and let’s face it, on Halloween night most all of us have our cameras out and are ready to take those shots of our kids in costumes just before we head out of the door and down the street for some candy.

Some of the best Halloween pictures are taken before the night starts to fall when we’re usually working to get everyone all set, costumes ready, candy bags in hand and it can get a bit hectic.

I take my Halloween images sometimes days before or earlier in the day to make sure I have the time to get creative and get the best shots I can.

Here are a few tips to getting those Halloween pictures just right, even if they are taken a few days before October 31st.

  One common mistake on Halloween night is forgetting to get the whole family in a shot. Do your family Halloween photos days before Halloween night to get a back drop, lighting right and a chance to practice what the perfect makeup and costume will be.

  Do more than one family portrait and shake things up a bit with a different backdrop. You will be glad you did.

  With just a velvet backdrop, the lighting just right and some flowers to add to the amazing makeup job you did, this portrait is one you will be showing your friends for years.

  Making a fun backdrop can be fun and cheap. Just a sheet from the bed and some silhouette Halloween decorations can really look nice.

  This porch picture has been being taken since Halloween started. Make sure to have the kids carry something in their hands like pumpkins or candy bags to get photos with details.
