Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has released a new song, “Long Way,” the debut single from his upcoming solo album, Earthling. While Vedder has yet to announce a release date for the new album, he has revealed the set will arrive on Vedder’s own Seattle Surf imprint via Republic Records.

“Long Way” takes cues from country, with acoustic guitars and storytelling lyrics. In the song, Vedder sings of regrets, reflecting on his life and “wishing the past would disappear.”

The track features former Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers member Benmont Tench on Hammond B3 organ, former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer on guitar and piano and longtime Chili Peppers member Chad Smith on drums. Listen to “Long Way” via the video below.

On “Long Way,” Vedder worked with Grammy Award-winning producer Andrew Watt, who has credits with major names such as Ozzy Osbourne, Post Malone and Miley Cyrus. Watt also performed guitar and bass on the song.

“Long Way” and the upcoming single “The Haves” are slated to be released part of a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl, which fans can pre-order through Pearl Jam’s Ten Club.

In other news, the members of Pearl Jam are slated to perform at a collection of music festivals in September and October. Both Pearl Jam and Vedder will perform at the Ohana festival on Sept. 25 and 26, with Vedder doing a solo set on the 25th followed by a Pearl Jam headlining performance on the 26th.
