Underoath are back with their first bit of new music since 2018, and the new song takes fans back to the band’s early, classic days.

The new track, “Damn Excuses,” was self-recorded and produced by Underoath at guitarist Tim McTague’s Feral Sound studio. Listen to the song and watch the accompanying music video below.

So far, there’s no word on a new album from Underoath, so “Damn Excuses” is a one-off single for now.

“This song came out of nowhere for us,” keyboardist Chris Dudley said in a statement. “In hindsight, it probably stems emotionally from the anxiousness that a year of isolation will give you, and that ‘wanting-to-explode’ feeling came out with zero effort. It was therapeutic. This is us ready to get back into a loud room with sweaty people and experience something real together.”
