Alice Cooper isn’t hurting for work, per se, since he fronts both his band and the Hollywood Vampires. However, if he was looking to sing for a band today, he knows which one he’d want to join.

In a new interview, the Godfather of Shock Rock revealed he’d want to front the Foo Fighters. His reason why makes sense and is indirectly a compliment toward Cooper, himself.

“When they do my songs, they do it exactly like the band,” explained Cooper. “I mean, it’s amazing. I’ve done a bunch of things with the Foo Fighters, and a lot of their influence was Alice Cooper.”

Cooper continued, “The guys in the band, they said they learned how to play listening to our early albums. So when I go up on stage with the Foo Fighters, they nail my songs. They do them exactly the way they should be done. So, I’d probably be in that band, if they ever needed a really sick lead singer.”

In other Cooper news: Alice recently released a new album titled Detroit Stories. The album pays tribute to his hometown of Detroit and the gritty hard rock that came from the city.

Cooper said in a statement on the album, “Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield. San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image-wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar-driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”

Detroit Stories is currently available on digital platforms here. Physical copies, including special purple-colored vinyl editions of the album, are available at
