Avenged Sevenfold took fans by surprise today and shared the previously unreleased track “Set Me Free.”

The band notes in the video’s comments on YouTube that the song was recorded during the studio sessions for 2013’s Hail To The King, but it hasn’t seen the light of day until now. However, it appears that comment has been altered, and according to a screengrab from the A7X Reddit thread, the comment originally mentioned the track would be added to the streaming version of their 2008 b-sides album, Diamonds in the Rough, and that the album would begin streaming on February 7.

A7X has kept a low-profile since 2018 when the band was forced to cancel their tour with Prophets of Rage due to M. Shadows‘ vocal cord issues. Their last studio release came with 2016’s The Stage.
