Chris Cornell’s Children Accept His Best Rock Performance GRAMMY
One of the highlights from the Premiere Ceremony of the 61st GRAMMY Awards was when Toni and Christopher Cornell accepted the Best Rock Performance GRAMMY on behalf of their late father, Chris Cornell.
“When Bad Does Good” from the Chris Cornell career retrospective beat out Arctic Monkeys’ “Four Out of Five,” FEVER 333’s “Made An America,” Greta Van Fleet’s “Highway Tune” and Halestorm’s “Uncomfortable” for the GRAMMY.
In a backstage interview after accepting the award, Toni and Christopher Cornell talk about how proud their father would have been to win this GRAMMY and what it was like to find out “When Bad Does Good” won.
“He was always working so hard, and it was his passion,” said Toni. “To see that and then to see him win, it was so rewarding. But at the same time, I wish he was here to accept it.”
“I was happy. I was so overwhelmed,” said Christopher about hearing his father being announced as the winner of the Best Rock Performance GRAMMY.
“I was so proud and honored that I was going to be able to go up and accept [the GRAMMY], me and my sister and my mom, [Vicky Cornell], of course. I was really nervous, obviously, but mostly just happiness for my dad and our family.”
