In This Moment is one of the many awesome acts playing Riff Fest this year! In honor, here are five fun facts about the band!

• They wanted a guy singer

  Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth met through an audition, and at first, Howorth didn’t select her, because she was a woman, but did end up tapping her to be the singer of the band, according to Wikipedia.

• Their first album came out in 2007

  In This Moment released their debut album, “Beautiful Tragedy,” on March 20, 2007. Two popular singles off the release were “Prayers” and “Beautiful Tragedy.” The album showed off Brink’s fiery screaming, and later, the band evolved to showcase her clean vocals more.

• Maria Brink is a vegetarian

  Brink is a vegetarian and works with the PETA campaign. (Cool- I’m a vegetarian, too!)

• Maria Brink is currently dating Ded singer Joe Cotela (as last we heard)

  Sorry, guys! Of course she’s taken. She’s beautiful and talented!

• Maria Brink has some unique influences

  Brink tells Revolver that some of her non-music influences are Queen Elizabeth I, Mother Teresa, Joan of Arc and her two mothers. Those are some great influences!
