The Best Horror Movies So Far This Year And Ones I’m Looking Forward To

I try to get to the movies to see all the latest horror movies. Here's my list of the best so far as we approach the haunted season for 2024. Longlegs The Nicolas Cage movie is fantastic. This very creepy movie came out earlier this summer and many many people are talking about it. It's part Silence of the Lambs, part just weird, all good! I highly suggest Longlegs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG7wOTE8NhE Abigail This is the goriest movie I've seen so far this year. Just a complete bloodfest! Fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PsP8MFH8p0 In A Violent Nature I can't put my finger on what I like about this movie, but it stuck with me for days. I'll tell you this, there are some wild death scenes in the film, as the writers thought of crazy ways to kill people. So far the sleeper of the year for me. Some people said it was a bit slow-moving, and they might be right, but I liked it a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyXuRmXbS7U Night Swim I thought this movie was better than it was going to be. It's a fairly generic story, but I thought it was suspenseful and well done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcSNqteCEtE Strange Darling I loved this movie. It's told out of sequence so you have to put the pieces together. It's not as scary as it is a thriller. The final scene is remarkable acting. Really well done! A must see as far as I'm concerned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wqsAwoSOd0 The First Omen I really liked this movie a lot. I won't say too much about it but I will say that it's a prequel to The Omen, so it's cool how the ending ties into that classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmN1Op8ygno The Strangers Part 1 This series of three films was made at the same time, so I'm excited to see parts 2 and 3. It's an updated version of the one from 2008 featuring Liv Tyler. This is a good old-fashioned kids-in-the-woods, being stalked by crazy locals thriller. It's worth a watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pZUQmZdOi4 The Watchers This is a movie from Ishana Night Shyamalan and it's also worth a view. It's a dark thriller that you have to once again piece together. I enjoyed it. I did see M. Night Shyamalan's Trap, and I thought that was decent. I'm glad I saw it, but it wasn't great! I think the trailer gave too much away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYo91Fq9tKY I also watched MaXXXine, which is part of the Pearl/X series. I didn't think MaXXXine was that scary, more like a movie from the 80s. That being said, I did enjoy it and the others. Here are a few I'm looking forward to.... Terrifier 3. YES! I can hardly wait! I wasn't sure about Monster Summer, but I saw the trailer and it's now on my radar. Nasfuratu....a new twist on the classic. Beetlejuise Beetlejuice. It doesn't look scary, but I really like the first one. I'm a fan of the way Tim Burton shoots movies as well. That comes out this weekend as I write this, so I'll see it soon. Smile 2. The first one was so bizarre I look forward to seeing what they do with part 2. Speak No Evil. Every move I see, this trailer this runs before. It could be a decent film. I'm still trying to get to Deliverance on Netflix. Hopefully soon. -Meltdown- [select-listicle listicle_id="1071239" syndication_name="actors-who-starred-in-horror-movies" description="yes"]
