Eddie Vedder Covered ‘Save It For Later’ For ‘The Bear’

If you've seen Pearl Jam live in concert over the past ten years there's a good chance you screamed "don't let me down," while jumping up and down towards the end of the band's "Better Man," performance. The band often throw a bit of the English Beat's "Save It For Later" into "Better Man." Now Eddie Vedder has covered "Save It For Later" and his version is being featured in season 3 of The Bear on FX. The original song by the English Beat was released in 1982. It was a featured single on the band's final studio record Special Beat Service. Vedder's new sensational cover of the song is a more melodic version that features a subtle electric guitar, a saxophone solo, and of course Vedder's soaring vocals. Season three of The Bear on FX was released yesterday, June 26. It stars actor Jeremy Allen White. All ten episodes were released together on Hulu so fans can binge-watch and look out for Vedder's song making an appearance. In the past, Pearl Jam's songs "Come Back," and "Animal" were also featured in the series. Eddie Vedder Covers "Save It For Later" - More Fun Facts In true Pearl Jam and Vedder style much thought was put into every detail here from the contribution to the show to the single's artwork. Vedder grew up outside of Chicago and is huge Cubs fan. The Bear is based around a young man who moved back to Chicago to take over his brother's sandwich shop after he tragically passes away. If you look at that album cover and artwork for Vedder's new release you will undoubtedly notice hints of Cubs blue and red colorways. In addition, that stylish looking font that displays Vedder's name, the song title, and "Seattle Surf Co." (Vedder's label brand) happens to be the rocker's handwriting. Vedder often writes in a calligraphy style as you will see on the Pearl Jam's social accounts when they post photos of their setlists from that night's concert. Speaking of which, Pearl Jam's summer European tour is officially underway. Stops in London, Germany, Spain, and Portugal are still to come before the band heads back to the United States for another month of coast-to-coast shows staring in Missoula, Montana on August 22. Yes, two nights at Wrigley Field are included in this leg of the tour. At that show it is likely that if "Better Man" makes the setlist, the full-band version of "Save It For Later" will be added to the end. If you are wondering why this English Beat jam is the tag choice for "Better Man," it may have to do with the fact that the backing guitar uses a very similar chord pattern in both songs. You can listen to Eddie Vedder's solo cover of "Save It For Later" here.
