Male elephant attacks sculpture thinking it was a rival for mating
An elephant in Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park destroyed a sculpture of an elephant they had on display when it mistook the statue as competition for a mate.
Elephant handlers say this is likely the reason because in the wild elephants will fight for breeding rights. After the battle was over the male elephant went back to the forest leaving the statue in pieces.
