Catch Up On Gen-Z Slang
Popular Gen-Z Slang Terms You Should Know
These popular millennial terms are on the out, according to Gen-Z’ers who participated in a recent poll. Some of these will be obvious and have been out for years, while others have been out for a long time and there’s no excuse for them still being in your lexicon. So, get to know your Gen-Z slang now! According to Currys, “YOLO” is one of those terms that should not longer used and no longer is being used in Gen-Z slang. Instead, they’re going with “DIFTP” or “Do It For The Plot.” Honestly, I hated the whole YOLO trend. However, at least it rolls off the tongue! It sounds nice, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to pronounce DIFTP to make it sound smooth. With that being said, do it for the plot is a pretty cool saying. It definitely beats “do it for the ‘Gram.” Likewise, crazy people and acting a fool is no longer “cray” they’ve now become “delulu” which is short for delusional. This is one I could get behind! People tried way too hard with cray or cray-cray. Delulu sounds funny and is a term I could start using, if Gen-Z will allow it. FOMO (fear of missing out), LMAO (laugh my a** off), and ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing) are all abbreviations that we shouldn’t use any more, per this poll on Currys. Instead of LMAO people are turning to IJBOL (I just burst out laughing). Again, too complicated! I think “lol” works just fine still! Ah, I’m showing my age again aren’t I?5 Of The Most Questionable Fashion Trends Of 2023
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
