A couple weeks back I asked you guys about your favorite Christmas songs. I did this on my Facebook and X. The answers varied from Billy Squire, to Cheech and Chong and everything in between.

I’ve played Christmas music on the air for my entire career. I have to say, I don’t hate it. It breaks up the routine a little and offers a little bit of a lighter break. Some of the songs I genuinely like, mainly because I only hear them for a few weeks a year. Plus, when you have kids that changes everything. My kids are older know, but my daughter had our tree up on November first.

I decided to make a list of some of the Christmas songs you picked. Yes, there were the people that are Grinches, saying they don’t like any of them. Fair enough. I get it, it’s not for everyone. Trust me, I wouldn’t want to work at a station that went all-Christmas for two months. That would get old very fast.

By the way, I was given a copy of Scott Weiland’s Christmas album, The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year, on vinyl last year. For obvious reasons I hadn’t dropped it on the turntable yet. Well, I listened to it last week for the first time and I have to say, it’s pretty damn good! I’ve listened to it several times since. If you’re looking for something different this year, give that one a try.

Alright, enough of my babbling, let’s get on with it. Here’s song you picked for the list of eleven.

  • cheech and chong "Santa Claus and his old lady"

What can be said about this one that hasn’t been said before. Just a Christmas classic!

  • AC/DC "mistress for Christmas"

I have to say, it was kinda strange when AC/DC put out a Christmas song, but now it’s a must-play every year.  A lot of you guys suggested it.

  • Gary Hoey - Any song

Some of you suggested Gary Ho, Ho, Hoey, any song. I think I’ll post this one since it’s my favorite.

  • dave malosh "down with the christmas"

This one is pretty cool because this is truly a Detroit thing. Local musician, Dave Malosh, came to us with the song some 17/18 years ago. I interviewed Disturbed frontman, David Draiman, a couple of years back and asked him if he’d ever heard it. “I think it’s been played for me before,” David said. He went on to say he’s always flattered when people impersonate the band. You can watch that interview here.

  • bob rivers "I Am Santa Claus"

Bob Rivers is a radio guy from the Northwest who put out many a Christmas parody. This one happens to be one of your favorites.

  • from ashes to new "all I want for christmas is you"

I’m certain this one scared Mariah Carey away. The boys rocked it up for sure!

  • shinedown "Happy Xmas"

Brent Smith and Shinedown really pull off the John Lennon classic.

  • trans siberian orchestra "christmas eve/Sarajevo"

I mean, these guys have been a part of the Christmas season for almost three decades. One of the best live experiences you’ll ever see.

  • lemmy, billy gibbons & dave grohl "Run, run rudolph"

This song is a definitely a rocker! Just a rip roaring classic! I love it.

  • small town titans "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch"

This song kicks all sorts of ass! Great Christmas song!

  • dee snider and lzzy hale "The magic of christmas day"

Two powerhouse rockers combine to create this great Christmas song.
