As George Vlahakis, event coordinator for Astronomicom put it ” We’re beyond excited to announce a new home for our eighth Astronomicon! This incredible venue brings back the nostalgic vibe of our first few conventions, and we can’t wait to share more amazing guest announcements with you. Get ready for one of the best Astronomicons yet!”
My favorite Con returns for the 8th time, but it’s moved from Livonia to Ypsilanti. George and the Twiztid guys have done it again and started announcing guests for the upcoming event. Billed as Metro Detroit’s #1 Pop Culture Convention, Astronomicon 8 will occur April 4th through the 6th at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest, located at 1275 S Huron Street Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
The first guests have been announced and are starting with a bang!
Astronomicon Returns In April
Wrestling legend, and Michigander, Kevin “Big Sexy” Nash will be attending for pictures and autographs again. I think I need to update my picture with him.
Art The Clown Will Be At Astronomicon
Returning for the third time is actor David Howard Thorton – Art The Clown from the Terrrifier movie series. I love the series and can’t wait to see David.
Sting Comes To Astronomicon
How cool is this? Sting will be at Astro! Make sure to be there on Saturday to meet the legend.
Appearing for the first time will be AEW star Dr. Britt Baker DMD.
That’s what we’ve got so far….more guests to be announced.
Make plans to get to Astronomicon in April…I’ll see you there!
Astronomicon 7 Had "Record-Breaking Attendance" In Livonia's Burton Manor
Astronomicon 7 is in the books and once again the Twiztid guys pulled off another great Comic- Con! I love these events because you get the chance to see and meet celebrities that you might never have had the chance to. Wrestlers from the past and present. Actors, movie stars, voice actors, and so on.
The Burton Manor in Livonia was ground zero for all things pop culture. Legends, WWE Hall Of Fame members. Mick Foley, Sargent Slaughter, Rob Van Damn, Matt Hardy and more. Stars of the screen, mostly in the horror genre, which I’m a big fan of. It was great to see Bill Moslely again. He’s been in Rob Zombie movies but is best known as “Chop Top” in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. I was excited to see Amelie McLain, the Little Pale Girl in Terrifier 2. The next installment of that series comes out in October and I can’t wait.
After interviewing Spencer Charnas for the second time, I had the chance to meet him in person. You can listen to our interview here, where we talked about his band Ice Nine Kills opening for Metallica, horror movies, and lots more. His line for pictures and autographs was long all weekend.
Majik Ninja Entertainment’s George Vlahakis said “Astronomicon 7 was one for the books. We are proud to host the fastest-growing culture convention in Metro Detroit. We had record-breaking attendance this year and want to thank everybody who stopped by! See you all next year”
It’s always a fun time, I can’t wait to see what great guests the guys get for Astronomicon 8 next year. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures from the event that myself and WRIF photographer, Jason Anthony took from this past weekend.

More crazy characters at Astro over the weekend. This costume took some dedication.
