WRIF New Music Breakdown For October 3, 2024
Jade from 101 WRIF is back with the latest edition of the New Music Breakdown, and this week’s update brings a mix of exciting releases across rock and metal!
First up, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses has dropped a cover of David Bowie’s iconic track Heroes, which is now available for streaming. Not stopping there, McKagan has also shared a fresh, original track, a glam rock tune called True to the Death Rock and Roll Ballad. While fans in Michigan might be disappointed that there isn’t a local stop on his upcoming Lighthouse tour, Chicago isn’t far away! You can catch him there on November 8th.
Coheed and Cambria also have new music to share with the world, releasing a song called Blind Side Sunny. According to frontman Claudio Sanchez, it’s their most aggressive track yet and deals with themes of revenge. There’s no news on whether this is part of a larger upcoming album, but for now, fans can enjoy the intensity of this latest release.
On the metal front, Lacuna Coil are back with big news! The Italian metal veterans have announced their 10th studio album, Sleepless Empire, which is set to drop on February 14th, 2025. It’s their first new material since 2019, and they’ve already released a video for the first single, Oxygen, available to watch now.
Rounding out the breakdown, Michigan’s own Black Dahlia Murder has shared a music video for Panic Hysteric off their latest album Servitude, which dropped just last week. The song pays tribute to the mid-century fear and outrage sparked by rock and roll, even featuring quotes from Frank Sinatra, a noted rock and roll skeptic. The Black Dahlia Murder is set to perform at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on November 9th, a homecoming for the Michigan metal band.
