Grandma’s Life Saved!
A Grandma Broke Her Leg On A Mountain But Was Saved By A Younger Guy
Depending on the location, hiking isn’t usually a dangerous activity. But, when you are a 79-year-old grandma hiking in the Washington wilderness, things could get dicey.
According to the NYPOST, a 79-year-old grandma was hiking in Washington state when she broke her leg and had to be carried down the mountain by a 20-year-old guy. The woman was lucky that US Air Force Airman First Class Troy May was there to assist her because not every man would be able to complete the task.
Hiking a mountain by yourself isn’t the safest practice. And, it seems extremely unsafe to do so at 79-years-old. We are quick to point out all the things that could go wrong for a person of that age up in the mountains. Slippery rocks, tree roots, or even just a big hole. This grandma stepped right into a hole and snapped her leg in three places.
Now, not every man could have helped rescue this woman from her situation. Chuck and Andy both say that she would have been on her own. There is no way they could have put this woman on their backs and carried her down a mountain for 3-5 hours. Shoot, they would have had a hard enough time getting themselves back down the mountain with nothing on their backs.
We are very happy this woman is okay. According to the NYPOST, she is an experienced hiker and makes this journey every year to leave flowers for her deceased mother atop the mountain. After ending up wheelchair bound and with 11 screws in her leg, she might have to wait a while before hiking any mountains in the near future. But, we hope she’s able to do so if she wishes. Maybe with a companion next time, because there isn’t always a strapping young man to give you a piggy back ride on the way down.
