Florida Man Drinks Booze, Eats Chips After Breaking Into Home
“Mi casa, su casa” doesn’t seem to apply here. A Florida man is in trouble after being caught breaking into a home, drinking booze, and eating chips. It’s not his first run-in with the law, but it could be the most frightening yet.
According to FOX 13 News, Jose Barbosa broke into a family’s home while they were outside in their pool! You’d never expect to go inside for a quick refreshment only to discover a stranger is already in there! FOX 13 News reports that the man even went up to one of the children and touched their face before entering the home.
Deputies were able to get to the scene where they set up a perimeter and had an aviation unit monitoring the situation from above, per FOX 13 News. Eventually, he came out of the home but wouldn’t listen to their commands so they had to use a “less than lethal shotgun” to bring him into custody, per FOX 13 News.
FOX 13 News reports that while he was inside, Barbosa helped himself to two alcoholic beverages and a bag of chips. That’s frightening! I certainly would be apprehensive to tell the strange man in my home “no, you can’t have those chips.” To keep the situation calm I’d probably be offering him more food and a seat while I wait on authorities. That’s a horrible situation to be in!
Sheriff Carmine Marceno tells FOX 13 News, “This is a frightening situation for any family. I’m proud of my deputies’ quick response to secure the scene. The violent criminal is no stranger to the Marceno Motel and I hope his cell feels like home.”
Barbosa has been charged with burglary, battery, and petit theft. Previously, he has been arrested for battery and burglar, per FOX 13 News. You can check out Barbosa’s mugshot provided by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office below.
