Detroit Red Wings Alumni To Play The New York Rangers On April 27th
Detroit Red Wings alumni to take on the NY Ranger.
Coming up on Saturday, April 27th, it’s the second NHL alumni game at Big Boy Arena in Fraser. It’ll be a 2 pm puck drop as the Detroit Red Wings alumni take on the New York Rangers alumni.
Yes, this will be the second game of its kind, as the Red Wings took on the Boston Bruins alumni last year. That game, which took place in September, saw such Bruin greats as Joe Mullen, Rick Middleton, Kenny “The Rat” Linesman, and others, take on Red Wing greats like Darren McCarty, Drew Miller, Darren Helm, Mickey Redmond, Dino Ciccerelli, and more.
This time, you’ll see more Red Wing heroes taking on the likes of Ranger fan favorites like Ron Dugay, Bernie Nichols, Brian Skrudland, and others scheduled to appear.
Last year, I was lucky enough to join Sean Beligian and Ben Holden’s broadcast team. Sean and Ben took care of business in the press box while I was situated between the benches doing in-game interviews with players during the play. It was a blast to talk hockey with guys I’ve known for years, like Darren McCarty, Bryan Smolinski, and Mickey, and the chance to speak to hockey legends I’d never met before.
According to the site, Karen Newman will sing the national anthem again, and other guests will appear. Vladimir Konstatinov will attend, along with hockey’s holy grail, The Stanley Cup will be there for the second year in a row. It’s a great hockey event for the entire family!
So mark this one on your hockey calendar for April 27th. For more information, click on the website here. We’ll see you there!

Pictures From The Detroit Red Wing/Boston Bruins Alumni Game
What a great alumni game in Fraser Saturday night! The Boston Bruins alumni took on the Red Wings alumni for charity as Big Boy arena. Legends like Mickey Redmond, Rick Middleton, Red Berenson, Kenny “the rat” Linseman, Darren McCarty, Larry Murphy, Dino Ciccarelli, Joe Mullen, John Wensick, and lots more, were on hand to put on a great show for the fans.

The final score was the Bruins 8, the Wings 7. The game started off a little slow with each team feeling charitable, but as crunch time came near the end of the game, young horses like Darren Helm, Jakub Kindl, Danny DeKeyser and others started forcing the play. It was all a little too late, as Boston took home the trophy.
For me personally, it was great to see some of these legends, on and off the ice. Some of these guys brought back childhood memories of watching them play when I was a youth hockey player. A special thanks to Joe Neville for asking me to take part. I LOVED working with my friends Ben Holden and Sean Baligian. I’ve known those guys for years, but never had the chance to work with those two pros. The after party at Ciccarelli’s was outstanding. Also, thanks to the crew of The Prep for all their hard work!
