What’s the unbelievable reason a Burger King employee was held at gunpoint? It’s nothing like anything I’ve ever heard of. Actually, it’s pretty much the opposite of any story like this.
Typically, customers will become upset when they have to pay more than they expected. Likewise, they can become aggravated if an order is messed up. However, that’s not what happened this time. Here’s more on the story.

On Dave & Chuck “The Freak,” we’ve talked about all sorts of Fast Food Freakouts. There have been customers who threw food at employees, started fights, and more. However, this is a first.
No, this was a Fast Food Freakout over receiving a lower price than expected! I’ve never heard of or seen anything like it. Who could possibly be upset that they are paying less for some food than they expected?
According to Cleveland 19, Willowick police are searching for the disgruntled customer who pointed a gun at a Burger King employee on Easter Morning. That employee, Howard Vernon, tells Cleveland 19, “To know that somebody would do something like that just because I’m trying to give you a better deal and it flip out like that, it is scary. I was taking this guy’s order and he ordered two sausage egg and cheese croissants and a sausage biscuit and hashbrowns and the order came out to $8 and he was like my order can’t be right it should be like $11 and I’m trying to explain to him that we had a promotion going on and like it’s cheaper and he started cussing and getting all loud and I was like I don’t know what to tell you I don’t know why you want to pay more money.”
That’s when the customer sped off and returned around the drive-thru, pulled out a gun, and threatened to kill the employee and called him a racial slur, per Cleveland 19. This is crazy! So, either he thought the employee forgot one of the items he ordered or thought it wasn’t being considered in his order. Well, he was wrong. I don’t have any other theories. Who gets upset about paying less? Now, he’s going to end up paying much more in legal fees.

I have spent so much time in drive-thrus that I think I could be considered an expert witness in a court case, at this point. I’ve seen delicious items come and go, prices climb, and experiences all the promos and deals. Why did KFC get rid of the Twister? When will McDonald’s bring back the famous Snack Wraps? These are all questions I ask every day, and sadly have no answers for. However, one day…we will get them back. I truly believe it in my heart of hearts.
I could go on and on about my love for the value menu. I’d say at least once a week I think back on my high school days when the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy’s was only 99 cents. Do you remember that? 99 cents! It was amazing. Now, the price for one JBC is closer to $3 than it is 99 cents. I feel like this is the new version of that old “back in my day, we’d walk 2 miles to school up hill both ways! stories your grandparents would tell. Now, these stories are all about how low the value menu prices were back in our day. “When I was your age, every item on the dollar menu was a dollar!”
