WWE’s Smackdown Returns To Detroit
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - OCTOBER 11: WWE logos are shown on screens before a WWE news conference at T-Mobile Arena on October 11, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the live show at Little Caesars Arena over the holiday break, the WWE has announced they’re coming back to Detroit! WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown returns on Friday, April 12 at 7:45 p.m. for a live show. Ticket information is at the bottom of the story. Speaking of the WWE, they kicked off 2024 with a banger of a show on Monday.
The year started on a very high note last night when the fans were promised the return of a former WWE champion at RAW in San Diago. They got more than they bargained for when the words “If You Smell What The Rock Is Cooking?” blasted through the arena as Dwayne “The Rock” Johson walked out to thunderous applause, interrupting Jinder Mahal. At one point he told Mahal he was unfunny and nobody liked him, like his very own Baywatch movie. Pretty good line, as I haven’t seen it either. Rock hasn’t changed, interrupting Mahal’s attempt to answer a question with the timeless “It Doesn’t Matter….” line.
It was a breath of fresh air to see one of the best in-ring performers, on and off the mic, back in a WWE ring. Personally, outside of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock is one of my favorite wrestlers. It was good to see him in the ring, as opposed to the big screen. His movies don’t do much for me, I have to say. I like him much better in a live setting than in his acting career.
Could The Rock make an appearance in Detroit? The card hasn’t been released yet, but I suppose you never know.
Tickets go on sale Friday, January 12 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at 313Presents.com and Ticketmaster.com. The card is to be announced soon.
