Sam Asghari Files For Divorce From Britney Spears
Earlier today, we reported on rumors that Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari have separated and were heading for a divorce. Sadly, those rumors were confirmed tonight. ET reports that Sam Asghari has filed for divorce from the pop star. Earlier today, gossip site TMZ reported that Asghari confronted Spears over rumors that she had cheated on him.
TMZ reports that Asghari cited “irreconcilable differences” for the reason for filing for divorce. According to California law, “irreconcilable differences” “are those grounds which are determined by the court to be substantial reasons for not continuing the marriage and which make it appear that the marriage should be dissolved.”
According to Cornell Law School, “Generally, courts do not inquire into what the differences actually are. The irreconcilable difference can even simply be that one party wishes to have a divorce and the other does not. Thus, both parties do not need to agree to a divorce premised on irreconcilable differences.”
ET, however, reports that “She’s adamant she didn’t cheat.” Yet, they report “The two haven’t got along for a while.” They add that “It finally came to an end after a major blowup.” TMZ predicted that, even though the couple had a prenuptial agreement, their split will probably result in Spears paying Asghari some sort of compensation.
As we previously reported, Spears recently announced her highly-anticipated memoir is coming out later this year. Titled Britney Spears: The Woman In Me, fans can expect Spears to dish out secrets she’s held on to during the course of conservatorship, as well as the events following. The Woman in Me is available to pre-order. According to the book’s official site, it is “written with remarkable candor and humor.” Leading up to the July announcement, Britney told her 42 million followers that she worked her “a– off,” and it took “a lot of therapy” to get the book done. The book’s release date is currently October 24. No word if the book will be delayed.
