Dolly Parton’s Rock Song Does Something That She Never Does
Dolly Parton never, ever talks about politics. She never even discusses what her political beliefs are. So when she released her new rock song “World On Fire” and spoke her mind about politics, many were surprised.
The lyrics to “World on Fire” sing in part, “Don’t get me started on politics / Now how are we to live in a world like this? / Greedy politicians, present and past / They wouldn’t know the truth if it bit ’em in the a–.”
The chorus sings, “Liar, liar, the world’s on fire / What are you gonna do when it all burns down? / Fire, fire, burnin’ higher / Still got time to turn it all around.”

The Today Show visited Dolly at her Dollywood theme park and asked about her new song. They asked what politicians she was calling out. She said, “All of ’em. I don’t think any of ’em are trying hard enough. I’m sure we’re all trying, but often I think that they worry more about the party than they do about the people. If we just do what we felt was the right thing, rather than ‘Who’s gonna lose? Who’s gonna win this? Who’s gonna look better if they do this?’ Rather than what comes from the heart.”
In the story, the reporter noted that she still did not disclose what political party she leaned toward, keeping that to herself.
On a lighter note, Parton talked about recording “Let It Be” with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for her upcoming Rockstar album. She gushed, “That’s like the Beatles! It is fantastic! Paul was so gracious, and he played the piano and he sang on it. Oh, they just killed it.”
Rockstar will be released on November 17, 2023, and features a whos who of rock and roll royalty.
