Senior Citizens Get Jay-Z & Rihanna’s Attention After Viral TikTok Dance
2023 has been Rihanna’s year so far after her stellar Super Bowl Halftime performance. Her performance caught the eye of residents at the Arcadia Senior Living Bowling Green in Kentucky where they re-created it themselves.
The TikTok video was created last month after the “Diamonds” singer took the stage. It shows the seniors dressed in all white lined up with one dressed in red mimicking Rihanna’s Super Bowl outfit mouthing the words “Rude Boy.” The video has been viewed over 30 million times and has since accumulated over three million likes.
Jay-Z apparently got a hold of the video and sent the residents some flowers in appreciation. Arcadia resident Sue Evans told Bowling Green’s WNKY, “There’s 100 of them. And they’re from Jay-Z. My granddaughter was worried and she told her mother, ‘I hope she knows who Jay-Z is!'”
Fellow Arcadia resident Dora Martin also said, “My grandchildren and I watched and there were flips and flops and I was standing there thinking, ‘Wow, I wish I could do that,’ and then I did do that.” She added, “I went to the doctor the other day and the nurses, as soon as I walked in there, knew who I was.”
According to Arcadia’s Facebook page, Rihanna also sent the residents white roses.
“You ladies dance was amazing,” Rihanna wrote on the card.
Up next for Rihanna is the Oscars. The singer will be performing “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forver soundtrack. The record is nominated for Best Original Song. The Academy Awards takes place on Sunday, March 12, 2023, and will be broadcast live on ABC. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the show at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
