Former Tiger Justin Verlander Likely Cy Young Winner – Screamin’ Scott
Continuing a tradition when a sports star leaves Detroit they go on to greatness…and it couldn’t happen to a greater guy. Justin Verlander had himself an epic season with the Astros. His ERA is 1.75 with 5 shutouts. Things were a little shaky back in August with a calf injury. Now ready for some post-season action after going 18-4 stat.
Memories of his 2011 season with the Tigers, Justin went 24-5 and a 2.40 ERA. Justin and his wife Kate Upton live in Florida. Can I say I still miss him in Detroit. We had some great times watching him on the mound, and I was always proud of his charity work with Veterans, “Wins for Warriors,” including donating his MLB paychecks to local charities. MLB Playoffs start October 7th and don’t think the Tigers are going to make it this year. (Said in a sarcastic voice.) Who will be Mr. October in this year’s match ups? Can’t wait for the real action to start. Justin Verlander, I just wanted to say good luck we are all counting on you.
Verlander probably wrapped up his third AL Cy Young Award tonight. His 1.75 ERA is the lowest for a qualified AL pitcher since Pedro Martinez, who had a 1.74 ERA in 2000 (excluding the shortened 2020 season).
