Starting Thursday (April 22), the mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Ford Field is opening up more spots to receive first-dose vaccines.

The Protect Michigan Commission has announced that 7,500 more first-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination doses will be available Thursday through Monday (April 26).

Right now, Detroit in the fifth week of the 10-week mass vaccination campaign. The first four weeks of the campaign administered roughly 150,000.

Those who get the first dose on April 22 through April 26 will have their second dose three weeks later during the last week of operations at Ford Field.

The state is opening up more first doses to provide additional opportunities for those who haven’t gotten the vaccine yet.

The Protect Michigan Commission also wants to remind people that if you’ve already received your vaccine some where else and get a text from Meijer offering an appointment, decline it so the invite will go to the next person.
