The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has announced an extension of coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions that were put into place on Nov. 18, 2020.
The added 12 days, the department stated, will allow the department to determine the full impact of the Thanksgiving holiday on the spread of COVID-19 across Michigan.
The order will keep existing measures in place through Dec. 20. Find the current restrictions here.
Michigan’s current three-week pause was going to expire on Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. The MDHHS states that according to their data, case growth flattened but remained high over the past three weeks, deaths have increased and hospitalizations have slowed but are still going up.
Michigan’s seven-day test positivity rate was more than 14% this past weekend. The state’s goal is 3%.
