With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, I asked you guys to tell me some great places to take dad this weekend. Here’s six solid suggestions….Happy Father’s Day!

  • Motown museum

Wayne Creech suggested this one. Funny, I never knew where this place was until I drove by it earlier this year. It’s definitely on my list of things to do someday.

Motown Museum | Home of Hitsville U.S.A.

Founded in 1985 by Esther Gordy Edwards-former Motown Records executive and sister to Motown founder, Berry Gordy-Motown Museum is home to iconic Hitsville U.S.A., Studio A, and an extensive array of Motown artifacts, photographs, apparel and memorabilia.

  • Detroit historical museum

Since we’re talking museums, why not this one? Darryl Brooks suggested it on my Facebook. It’s another place I have yet to visit, although I’ve driven by it many times.

  • flat rock speedway

Ok, now this is my speed. This was a suggestion from Corey Rimka. I love going to see the stock cars. Funny story, I went there a few weeks ago, only to realize – as everyone was leaving as we pulled in – that the racing that day started at 4pm and not 7pm. Doh! Great fun for the whole family, especially dad. I took my dad there for the bus races years ago. To this day, I’ve never seen him laugh as hard as he did that night.

  • the henry ford

This garnered the most suggestions. Paul Decker, Tim Cobb, and Lee Best all posted this one. Right in the heart of Dearborn, Michigan, it’s like taking a step back in history. I’ve been there a multitude of times. From classic cars shows, to vintage baseball games and the numerous historic items on display, this place is a must see! There’s lots going on there throughout the summer.

  • top golf

If your dad is a golfer, this is a no-brainer. Outstanding suggestion from Jamie Cords. Top Golf is located in Auburn Hills near the Great Lakes Crossing. I mean, what could be better than smacking golf balls and not having to worry about finding them?! I went there with a group last year. Solid food and drink and a ton of fun. Pro tip: make sure dad stretches beforehand. LOL

  • Huron Valley Guns

Yes, it’s a fun place to target practice, but they also have a very nice restaurant on site. I went there last year for Father’s Day and I’m hear to tell you, the buffet is excellent.
