With the thousands of shows that are easily watchable now due to the world of streaming, there’s a lot that goes into watching a series. Especially with me, if I’ve dedicated more than 3 hours of my life to a show, it means it’s good and it’s worth my time. Certain shows serve certain purposes and aren’t particularly considered “quality shows” and that’s okay. For me, the series’ that really leave their impression on me, are cunning, dynamic, normally violent and for extra points, have some sort of historical significance or truth to them.

Below I have compiled a list of my favorite Tv/streaming series’. I consider these to both rank among the best of the best and be highly rewatchable. Again, if you have a problem with watching things that are violent this list may not be for you. If that’s not a problem, I highly suggest all of these shows! Read on to discover which 5 shows I rank above them all and see if we share any in common!

  • 5. The Witcher

Starring Henry Cavill, “The Witcher” is a series based on a book and multiple video games that I’ve actually played and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of. Considering “The Witcher 3” is one of the best video games I’ve ever played, the series had a lot to live up to, and it for the most part it has. Obvious changes take place compared to the book and games, however by in large I’m still a fan and enjoyed the watch. Of course, they could have tried to dive into even more monsters in the show!

  • 4. Avatar The Last Airbender

As a complete series this may be one of the greatest shows ever made and is widely appreciated for its impact. The legendary tale of a world at war and in need of a savior, where one is found in a child who possesses extraordinary powers like no other! “The Last Airbender” has heartbreak, fun and comedy, along with dramatic action to rival any. Some of the most impactful parts of the series, is the wisdom that lies within, as there are many life lessons that can be learned from this children’s show.

  • 3. The Last Kingdom

Following the Journey of Uhtred, an English born man, who was raised by the Danes and eventually fled his way back to England after his adopted family was slaughtered. “The Last Kingdom” takes place during one of the most fascinating times in English history. When England was struggling to become united, at war with the Danes and yet bickering with its own land disputes, the show focuses on unifying England by seizing “The Last Kingdom” controlled by outside forces, in order to unite the nation once and for all.

  • 2. House

A damn near perfect series from start to finish, “House” focuses on a brilliant doctor who solves cases others cannot. While Dr. House constantly deals with his own issues with an addiction to Vicodin after sustaining a lifelong injury to his leg. I appreciate this show so tremendously because they never treat the drug addiction lightly and the show often talks about the dependency Dr. House has to performing his job well and reducing the pain so long as he “solves the puzzle” no matter the cost.

  • 1. Vikings

My all-time favorite TV show that originally aired on the History Channel is “Vikings”. This show follows the relatively unknown and yet true historical tale of legendary Viking King Ragnar Lodbrok and his discovery and raids of England. No man before his time within the Vikings believed they could sail west of their lands and Ragnar did. The show follows central themes of ambition, cultural differences, honor and war. What makes me love this show so much is the way the series depicts both the Christian religion and the Pagan Nordic beliefs. You see the origin of the hatred between these 2 faiths, as both claim the other worships “false god or gods”. Even Though this show has 6 long seasons I will watch this one time and time again!
