Matthew Perry, who famously played Chandler Bing on Friends, has tragically passed away at the age of 54. The actor, and character, have brought us countless laughs over the years. To honor Matthew Perry, I’ve put together a list of his most memorable moments as Chandler Bing.

In addition to Friends, Perry also starred in TV shows Mr. Sunshine, Go On, and The Odd Couple, among others. He also starred in movies such as Fools Rush In, Almost Heroes, The Whole Nine Yards, and 17 Again. Instead of focusing on the sad, I’ll be remembering all the laughs. If you’d like to read more on the details behind his passing you can find those details here.

Matthew Perry’s Best Moments As Chandler Bing

Chandler Bing was always a character I could relate to. While every character on the show is funny (it’s a sitcom, aren’t they all supposed to be?), Chandler was “the funny one.” I know what you’re thinking, “Umm I actually laughed more at Joey. Isn’t he the funny one?” Yes. Again, every character is funny. We laugh at and with them all. However, Joey was unintentionally funny. Chandler was legitimately funny. He wanted to be a comedy writer, instead he ended up…doing whatever it was he did.

Where Joey’s priority seemed to be womanizing, Ross had his educational pursuits, and Chandler had his mission to be funny. He wanted to make everyone laugh. That was his thing. Not only was Chandler funny, but he often found himself in humorous situations. That brought out the best of his flaws and put them on full display.

Chandler would have hilarious moments in his apartment with Joey. Likewise, there were funny moments in the apartment he shared with Monica. However, most of my favorite Chandler Bing moments come from his experiences at work. Sure, we never got a full grasp on what he did at work. However, while he was there hilarity often ensued. Whether it’s because the behavior of a co-worker, not paying attention, or some sort of faux pas that only dug a deeper hole, Chandler at work never disappointed.

Let’s check out some of my all-time favorite Chandler moments from Matthew Perry!

Chandler Bing’s Most Memorable Moments

  • The One Where Chandler Kisses All The Girls

This classic Chandler moment gets me every time. Nobody is supposed to know about him and Monica’s relationship and him giving her a kiss goodbye would be a pretty good tell. So, instead of admitting their relationship…he finds a way to make that kiss seem normal. Just kiss everyone! Problem solved. A great glimpse into the mind of Chandler. Matthew plays this perfectly where you can see the alarm set in.

  • The One Where Chandler Is Toby

Getting called the wrong name at work is embarrassing, we’ve all been there. However, what’s even more embarrassing? Having to correct them. Nobody wants to do that. It always comes off rude. I’ve been there before and just let them call me the wrong name, what’s the harm? Well, Chandler does this, too. It doesn’t go as smoothly, as he’s forced to become Toby which sets up a future problem with Toby and Chandler.

  • The One Where Chandler Was Transferred To Yemen

We’ve all been there. That awkward point in a relationship or friendship where you have to lie to get out of something you don’t want to do. There are plenty of ways to get out of events. You can lie about having a family thing or separate plans. However, if they challenge you on that or offer to help you could be in trouble. Obviously, Chandler wasn’t transferred to Yemen. However, Janice takes it upon herself to help him pack and take him to the airport. Basically, unknowingly, calling his bluff. He’s then left with two choices: tell the truth or go with the lie and actually go to Yemen. Which one do you think he chooses?

  • The One Where Chandler Pretends To Watch Football

Chandler is all of us. He can’t help because the game is on. For some reason, the game being on has become an acceptable excuse to get out of any activity. The catch here is Chandler doesn’t care about football. Nor is he actually watching. It just shows the length and effort he’ll put in to getting out of doing something he doesn’t want to do. Props to you, Chandler.

  • The One Where Chandler Accidentally Dates Janice

I can’t imagine the horror of going out on a blind date only to discover that said date is actually your ex. Especially, if that ex is Janice. It’s such a funny reveal when he hears her coming before he even sees her. You see it all click in his head at the same time and realize what he’s just walked into. The Chandler and Janice foil is one of the best in TV history. Oh. My. God.
