January 2023 Movies and Television to Watch

January is notoriously slow for entertainment, but 2023 is going to have a few really good movies and tv to watch. There will be plenty to keep you occupied during this January cold.  From grumpy old men to pubescent wolves to spore-infused zombies. And without further waiting, here are the January 2023 Movies and Television to Watch.

  • M3gan - January 6th

An inventor creates a playmate for her daughter but the AI robot gets wise and decides it would rather not be a toy any longer. The usual robot hates man and leads to mass casualties type of horror film. Think Chucky, but with a modern twist of learning AI and creepy realistic robot faces. Will release in theaters on January 6th.

  • The Pale Blue Eye - January 6th

There are not many actors that get more intense than Christian Bale. And so you know that is already a good reason to give anything a watch. Bale plays a detective investigating the murder of a cadet at West Point in 1830. For some reason, Edgar Allen Poe, one of the cadets, assists him in this endeavor. Premieres on Netflix on January 6th.

  • A Man Called Otto - January 13th

Lovable Tom Hanks plays a grumpy old man named Otto. A widower who has given up on caring about the world around him till he gets new neighbors. The new neighbors give him a new reason to enjoy life. Will be released in theaters on January 13th (Some limited show times show January 6th).

  • Plane - January 13th

Gerhard Butler, the man that made sandals a manly fashion again, is back! This time he lands (crashes) a plane on a war-torn island. He has to save his passengers while fighting off island warlords.  Will release in theaters on January 13th.

  • The Last of Us January 15th

If you’re a gamer like me, you know The Last of Us very well. One of the most intense stories ever written and played through. And from the trailer, it looks like the series is going to be ultra-intense. If you’ve never played The Last of Us, then be prepared for some serious reality as survivors of a plague tear each other apart trying to keep living. And while the survivors are doing that, they also have to contend with the spore-infected zombies that roam the world. Premieres on HBO on January 15th.

  • Teen Wolf: The Movie January 26th

After six seasons of teen wolf angst, there’s a movie (mind you, the show ended in 2017)! Teen Wolf stars return to combat an ancient evil. If you followed the popular show, then you’ll love this movie. Released on Paramount+ on January 26th.

  • Shotgun Wedding - January 27th

You say you don’t want to go to a romantic comedy? You want to see an action movie! Well here’s the best of both worlds, a Romedy with action! Jennifer Lopez takes out bad guys while trying to maintain the sanity of her planned wedding. You can catch this on Amazon Prime this January 27th.

  • You People - January 27th

When do you get to see Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy together? In the Netflix movie “You People”. Jonah Hill wants to marry Eddie Murphy’s daughter and would love his blessing. That is not as easy as it would seem. Seems like a straightforward comedy with two comedy icons and I hope it stays that way and doesn’t get dramatic.  But we will see when it comes out on Netflix on January 27th.
