Michigan offers a range of great travel destinations.

Michigan is a favorite summer travel destination for not just Michiganders but people all over America. I’ve even met people on the west side of the state, near Lake Michigan, who have traveled from as far as Europe to see everything Pure Michigan has to offer. So, what are some beautiful Michigan vacation destinations this season?

It seems as if every Michigander has their favorite spot to visit. Some people flock to the lakes, as Michigan offers the Great Lakes, as well as a load of smaller, inland lakes. Others enjoy the peace and quiet of up north, which is breathtaking this time of year. Still, others like traveling to one of Michigan’s big cities, such as Detroit or Grand Rapids. There’s really something for everyone in Michigan.

So, what are some must-visit Michigan vacation destinations? Who better to ask than the WRIF jocks? All of the WRIF jocks either grew up in Michigan or moved here later and life and fell in love with it. We all have very different personalities, too, so this list of must-visit spots truly has something for everyone. Read on for some must-visit Michigan spots from several jocks here at WRIF. Must-Visit Michigan Vacation Destinations This Season

  • Jade Springart - Lake Michigan Shoreline

I’m a big fan of going to all the towns on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Ludington, Petoskey and Charlevoix all have amazing views of the water and really cool places to hang out. Be careful if you walk out to the light houses! Last summer, my friend and I went to the U.P. We stayed right over the bridge in St. Ignace, which was definitely a fun little town. It’s also a beautiful drive if you head to Paradise or Tahquamenon Falls.

  • Meltdown - Irish Hills

I like to go all over the state, but I particularly like the Irish Hills area. My neighbors have a summer home at Sand Lake, so most weekends you can find me there. Plus, there’s some great riding around the area.

  • Steve Black - Mackinac Island

Gina and I got married there at Mackinac Island the Little Stone Church and try to return about every other year. Of course, we love the views and the laid-back vibe but don’t sleep on the hiking, especially on the interior of the island. Our lives tend to be busy, crowded and loud, so the peace and quiet are a perfect way for us to recharge.

    Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is the truly "all natural" theme park of America. Limited to transportation of horse and buggy, bicycle or foot, surrounded by water, it has escaped the vast changes of time.

  • Aimee Brooks - Marquette

Marquette is my favorite pick as a Michigan vacation destination! Why? There are lots of bike trails, a beautiful waterfront, and beer, of course!

  • Anne Erickson - Lake Michigan

I love water, so Lake Michigan is a favorite Michigan vacation destination for me. My uncle lives off Lake Michigan, and I love going to visit him and just sitting by the lake and talking. I like plenty of inland lakes, too, though, such as Gun Lake.

  • Dave Hunter - Traverse City

Traverse City tops our list. If it’s just my wife and I, we love checking out the great restaurants and doing a winery tour on the Old Mission Peninsula. If it’s a family trip, we always have to stop by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

  • Cort Freeman - Lake Michigan

My family has a cottage on Lake Michigan in Mears. It’s my favorite place to go to and get away. The phone service isn’t great, so it’s an ideal time to unplug and recharge.

    Great Lakes - Lake Michigan

It spans the entire west coast of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, and it is the only one of the five Great Lakes that is located entirely within the United States.
