101 Riffs Of Summer: Week 8 Playlist

Another week gone by, and another epic round of the 101 Riffs Of Summer is officially in the books on 101 WRIF. We put the spotlight on more of the greatest guitar riffs of all-time this week, including some you’ve most likely been waiting for.

The week, we featured some of the best to ever rock, from Deep Purple to Godsmack. Make sure to listen Monday through Friday at 2pm for the daily “Riff Of Summer!” Plus, you’ll get two “riffs” on Two-Fer Tuesdays doubling up on some of your favorite WRIF bands.

  • Monday, July 17th

    Foo Fighters – “Times Like These”

    This track was released as the second single off the band’s fourth album, One by One, in 2003. It was also featured in the 2003 film, “American Wedding.”

  • Tuesday, July 18th

    The Cult – “She Sells Sanctuary”

    Off the band’s second studio album, Love. It was the last song recorded with the band’s longtime drummer, Nigel Preston.

    The Cult – “Fire Woman”

    Two-fer Tuesday! “Fire Woman” was released as the first single off their fourth studio album, Sonic Temple.

  • Wednesday, July 19th

    Godsmack – “Love-Hate-Sex-Pain”

    This was the second single off the band’s fifth studio album, The Oracle. It peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart.

  • Thursday, July 20th

    Deep Purple – “Smoke On The Water”

    If you’ve been following our playlists for the 101 Riffs Of Summer, then you had to have known this would be coming eventually. It features one of the greatest, most iconic, memorable riffs of all-time. It was released on their 1972 album, Machine Head.

  • Friday, July 21st

    Living Colour – “Cult Of Personality”

    It served as the opening track, and second single, off their debut studio album, Vivid, in 1988.
