When it comes to Detroit icons, there aren't many bigger than Eminem. This is a painting by Speed Painter Dave Santia.

With another big game this Sunday for the Lions, I asked my followers on social media about celebrities they’d want to see at the game.

So far we’ve seen Eminem, past Lions players like Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson and more. Rapper Big Sean, actor Taylor Lautner, I Prevail’s Brain Burkheiser and the list goes on. Hell, even Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers was there and preformed at halftime! All of a sudden, going to a Lions game is the place to be seen.

Let’s face the facts, it’s been forever since the team on the field has excited people this much. There’s lots to cheer about, and everyone wants to be apart of it.

Look, Kansas City has the cringe-worthy Taylor Swift at every game. At all the Rams games they have all sorts of celebs throughout the building. Even at last Sunday’s game at Ford Field, Breaking Bad’s Walter White, Bryan Cranston was in attendance. Detroit is becoming the L.A. of the Midwest this year.

I know, I know….”we don’t need no stinking celebrities on the sidelines, just win the game!” I get it. I’m just having some fun and wanted you guys to pipe up and tell me who you though should be there. There were some interesting picks. Personally, I’m partial to the number ten pick. If I had extra tickets, they’d be going to them.

Thank you for so many great suggestions. Here’s a list of the celebrities you picked that you want to see at the game this Sunday.

Go Lions!

  • alice cooper

He hasn’t lived in the city in decades, but he still calls Detroit home.

  • bob seger

I’ve met Bob a few times. great guy! Once, it was after a Lions game during the Jim Schartz era. He told me that Jim had made a speech after the game, and said he was giving a game ball to a guy who meant a ton to the area, then threw him the ball! I asked him if he caught it and he excitedly said “Hell Yeah!”

  • kevin nash

Hailing from downriver, the giant wrestling superstar makes appearances in the area throughout the year. It would be cool to see all 6’10” of him on the sidelines.

  • j.k. simmons

The actor hails from Gross Pointe, Michigan. He got some nods from some of you on Facebook.

  • The insane clown posse

Yes, the Posse got many votes as well. Funny thing, I just watched a documentary on them a couple of weeks back.

  • Kid Rock

After celebrating his 53rd birthday this past week, maybe he’ll make the trek to Detroit. He got a lot of mentions on my socials.

  • jack white

Come to think of it, I’ve seen him at baseball games, but no football games yet.

  • thomas hearns

I’ve seen the “Hitman” from time to time around the area, but he’d look good on the sidelines.

  • Tom Selleck

Magnum P.I. fits the bill. How cool would it be to see him on the sidelines with his Detroit “D” hat on??

  • our veterans

Todd Cory responded with those two words….Our Veterans. I couldn’t agree more.
