Summertime is the best time for a road trip, and besides car snacks, the next most essential thing to have for your upcoming road trip is some good tunes.

The coronavirus pandemic may alter your road trip plans a bit, but whether you have an end destination or are just seeing where the road takes you, these six rock road trip albums need to accompany you.

• Judas Priest – ‘Screaming for Vengeance’

  A stellar album to have riding shotgun, but try and be mindful of your acceleration.  It’s real easy to get a speeding ticket listening to the wonder of Rob Halford’s vocals and the dueling guitars of K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton.

• Alice in Chains – ‘Dirt’

  “Heavy” doesn’t even begin to describe this brilliant AIC album.  (We’re not sure if the right word even exists.) If you’re perhaps on the road trying to escape some stuff, this is the album to play to try and help you work through your thoughts.

• The White Stripes – ‘Elephant’

  A masterpiece, and nothing rattles a rearview mirror quite like Meg White’s kick drum.
• Guns N’ Roses – ‘Appetite For Destruction’

  Windows down, radio blaring is the only way to take in this iconic debut.

• AC/DC – ‘Highway to Hell’

  A bit obvious to have 'Highway to Hell' on this list? Sure, but between it's iconic title track and songs like "Touch Too Much," and "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)," it would be a glaring omission.

• Led Zeppelin – ‘Physical Graffiti’

  Some might argue that all you need on a road trip is just Led Zeppelin's catalog. (Truthfully, they wouldn't exactly be wrong.) However, if we had to pick one, 'Physical Graffiti' is a great choice on shear length alone (nearly 83 minutes!) and for classic tracks like "Kashmir," "In My Time of Dying" and "Houses of the Holy."
