Haunted Michigan: Take A Haunted Walking Tour Of Monroe Throughout The Summer
Haunted Michigan with Nate Thompson
There’s a lot of scary stuff gong on down in Monroe, Michigan. Nate Thompson joins me to speak about his Museum of Horror, but also something new he’s doing this summer: Haunted Walking Tours!
We discussed his museum, and some of the things that he has in it. Including one item that he was given that is really creepy. He talks about the “Red Room”, and more.
Nate also talks about the tours, how long they take and some of the locations they go to. He spoke to getting the idea and putting it into motion. The tour guide is a guy named Zach, and Nate calls him one of the best in the game. He gives me some of the insight on a couple of the spots the Haunted Walking Tour makes. Graveyards, water fountains and more. And, yes, people have experienced some paranormal things on these walks as Nate explained.
He mentions the Haunted Heat Fest. That’s Saturday, July 22nd. Vendors, food trucks wrestling and more. Details below.
We also talked about an idea he wants to make a reality this fall – Haunted Escape Rooms! This is pretty wild. From a replica of Jeffery Dahmer’s apartment, to a morgue and other’s.
Watch the interview and get all the info below. Happy Haunting!

Ten Great Michigan Haunted Attractions
BOO!
It’s the best time of the year, haunted house time! Michigan has no lack of horror fans and ways to enjoy Halloween. And one of those best activities is visiting a haunted house (or barn, farm, forest, etc). In addition to the ones I am aware of, bestthingsmi.com and michiganhauntedhouses.com have some great haunted attractions to check out.
There are few things I enjoy more than Halloween. From the costumes, masks, horror movies, and the latest animatronic nightmare. I look forward to candy corn more than is clinically allowed. I’ve been to a few haunted houses, but with my children always being deathly afraid of monsters (yet my home has animatronics all over including the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) it has been hard to frequent as many as I would like. But I am always a horror nerd, looking forward to revisiting these haunted paradises.
Last year Alice Cooper had a street named after him in Westland at the Eloise Asylum. Which is now a haunted attraction that offers a haunted asylum and ghost tours. If you didn’t catch it when it was out, a show called Making Monsters also built a GIANT Frankenstein’s monster/Alice for one of his tours. And after that MICHIGAN’S HAUNTED ATTRACTIONS!
Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history.
Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
