Who Will the Detroit Lions Regret Not Taking in the NFL Draft?
The NFL Draft is on the way, and Detroit Lions fans are buzzing about who Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes will, and won’t, take this time around. The Lions will have some special picks from the Matthew Stafford trade, which makes this year’s draft extra exciting. Of course, since the Lions ended the season with a winning record, we won’t get one of the first picks this round, but the wins were worth it.
So, in the upcoming draft, is there a player the Lions will regret passing on? Sports Illustrated asked some experts that question, and they got some solid answers.
“I believe Will Anderson Jr. will be one of the top players, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be there when the Lions pick at No. 6 overall,” Christian Booher said. “In terms of players the Lions could regret passing on, I believe Joey Porter Jr. could be one of the better cornerbacks. The Lions may regret passing on him. Additionally, there’s always the chance Detroit passes on a quarterback that comes back to haunt the team.”
Vito Chirco added, “At this present juncture, I’m not able to place my finger on one player the Lions will regret not drafting. However, I will say this: If Detroit doesn’t take a defensive back in the first round, I think the organization will live to regret it.” He named Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez, Penn State’s Joey Porter Jr., Alabama’s Brian Branch and Maryland’s Deonte Banks as some of the picks the Lions need to consider.
The NFL Draft takes place Thursday, Apr 27, through Saturday, Apr 29.
