Air conditioner

It was pretty hot this past week, and it’s only the beginning! Summer officially starts on June 21st and we’ve already hit 95 degrees. It’s looking like next week will be just as hot. I hope y’all are ready!

A few hot summers ago, I noticed my A/C was running and yet somehow, my house was getting hotter. I decided to stand in front of the vent and much to my surprise it was NOT cold air blowing at my feet. It was a slightly cooler version of what was happening outside and let me tell you, it was not cool outside. Clearly something was wrong so let’s check it at the source.

I went outside to the A/C unit and what do ya know? The fan that attaches to the top of the unit is no longer attached. Dropped to the bottom of the air conditioner. Not a great situation. I hit up my dad to tell him I was moving back in for the summer, since he has his A/C set to “morgue” and he told me to relax. Luckily, we found a new fan and reattached it. The A/C was back!

Long story short, there are a few signs you should look for to see if you’re A/C unit is about to ruin your summer. Check out some tips (which seem like common sense to me) below on how to make sure your air won’t go out on what’s likely going to be a hot and sticky summer! The source is ApartmentTherapy.com!

  • The air coming out of the vents is warmer than usual.

That’s an obvious sign something is wrong!

  • You hear strange banging or clicking noises from the unit.

Ooooh. Clicking noises are never good.

  • You notice a musty smell when the central air is on.

Yuck. We all know what that smell is like.

  • Your electric bill has gone up lately or you see an increase in power usage on your electric bill.

It’s never a good thing to have your electric bill go up!
