....Steve still doesn't know where to look. Killer shirt though! ;)

Taproot returned to the stage over the weekend, playing shows in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with another show in Marietta, Ohio. It’s the first time the band has played together in a decade.

They even shot a video in the famous Buffalo Bill House from the movie Silence of the Lambs. That should be a wild video! I CANNOT wait to see it. Drummer, Jarrod Montague was nice enough to share some pictures from the iconic location with me to post below.

Steve Richards said the shows were killer! “It was awesome, man. A couple hiccups, but seeing long time fans and meeting new ones was sweet. First two shows after only two rehearsals, two weeks prior (lots of 2’s!?), they were pretty cool. Great bands like 10 years, Adalita’s Way & Smile Empty Soul supported us & helped us ease back in. I refreshed myself w/ entertaining while no moshing signs are to be ignored & fire escapes have tempting gravity! But trying out a couple new songs were fun & everyone was so supportive and hopefully they all enjoyed as much as we did!”

Jarrod told me “After not playing a full show with Taproot in 15 years, sitting down at my drum kit felt like I was stepping into a time machine. I was playing the same Tama drum kit from 2008 with some of my best friends, playing music that we created together 25 years ago in some cases. It reminded me of those videos where you see older folks with dementia that hear a song from their childhood and their eyes light up and they come to life. I felt a lot of the excitement and energy I felt in my younger years.”

He went on “Seeing some familiar faces and old friends in the crowds also reminded me that whatever we’ve gone through in these last few years since we last connected, there is something very special about being in the same room together, enjoying live music together. It’s a very communal experience and makes you feel appreciative to have made it to this point in your life and still be alive, despite the hardships and loss we’ve all gone through in life.”

The new Taproot album titled SC/SSRS, drops on September 29th. You can check out the album cover below. They also have shows in south east Michigan at the Machine Shop in late September, early October. And at District 142 in Wyandotte on December 9th, among several out-of-state concerts.
