At an open house at the Blue Water Bridge Annex on Tuesday, March 11, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) presented plans that detailed upcoming roadway improvements for the approach to the Blue Water Bridge entrance plaza in Port Huron.
According to a CBS News Detroit report, MDOT will perform the following work in the Blue Water Bridge and Port Huron areas this spring:
- Installing noise walls along the eastbound Interstate 94 and Interstate 69 exit to Pine Grove Avenue and along the Garfield Street on-ramp to westbound I-94 and I-69 Business Loop south to the Black River Bridge.
- Rebuilding eastbound I-94 and I-69 at the MDOT maintenance facility.
- Reconfiguring the 10th Avenue and Pine Grove Avenue intersection.
- Relocating the eastbound I-94 and I-69 exit to M-25 (Pine Grove Avenue).
The Blue Water Bridge is a significant international waterway crossing that spans the St. Clair River. It links Port Huron, Michigan, to Port Edward, Ontario, Canada, and accommodates six lanes of traffic.
