Trader Joe’s Desserts That Are Sneaky Good
Dessert items are not the first things I think of when heading to a chain grocery store for convenience shopping. However, much to my surprise, some of the sweet Trader Joe’s desserts recently were a huge hit at a post-dinner celebration. Though they were primarily purchased for the kids, the adults, including myself (I not a big sugar person), loved these items.
To first set the table, dessert is a broad category. Here, were specifically talking about boxed items that you need to cook and prepare yourself. Sure, some of the premade pies or bins of cookies work well and are quite tasty, but in this case you need to roll up your sleeves a bit and do some of the preparing. When done properly, it enhances how enjoyable the eating experience is.
In addition, each of these items work well with the summer season and are acceptable to serve for a variety of reasons. In our most recent case, we actually didn’t need a reason other than it was a beautiful summer night, the kids were playing baseball in the front yard, and it seemed like a fun addition to the night.
Here Are Great Trader Joe’s Dessert Choice To Bake At Home
As someone who loves lemon cake, I am very picky about it. So, when it was brought home in the box, I had my suspicions. However, this box of lemon cake mix with icing is the real deal. It can be found for under $20, baked in sheet-cake style, and easily serves up to eight people. It’s the perfect blend of simple and flavorful with none of that “too rich” feeling.
Then, the banana bread mix is always a fan-favorite. Much of this has to do with it being flexible enough to accommodate multiple meal settings. I like to add in some diced bananas so that makes it acceptable to have a slice for breakfast. Yet, a slice for dessert is perfectly acceptable as well.
Lastly, the cinnamon crumb cake mix is also a home run. Pay special attention to the baking instructions as you will want to follow them directly in order to get it right. If you don’t it still tastes great, but the simple outlined steps get it perfect. The cinnamon carries the experience, but the crumb makes it the most memorable (and loved by kids). This too, can be found for under $20 per box.
