Nine Inch Nails Drummer Joins University Of Michigan Staff
It appears the University of Michigan can now boast a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame member on its staff. According to the press release, Chris Vrenna, founding member of Nine Inch Nails, will become part of the Department of Performing Arts Technology as an assistant professor in the fall of 2024.
The Former Nine Inch Nails Drummer Has Michigan Roots!
Chris is no stranger to the University of Michigan. “My father is a Michigan alumnus. He and I would spend Saturday afternoons watching Michigan football, so I grew up a Wolverines fan. This opportunity to become a professor at Michigan and move to Ann Arbor feels like a homecoming for me.” he said. There’s even a picture of a young Chris at Niagra Falls sporting a U of M hat on the internet.
Chri and his Nine Inch nail bandmates were inducted into the Rock Hall in 2020. He’s also played with Gnarls Barkley and Guns N’ Roses. His resume is stacked, and he’s a Grammy-winning musician, producer, engineer, remixer, composer, and music technology educator.
He has earned many accolades in his musical career. He’s worked with bands such as Marylyn Manson, Metallica, Green Day, Bush, and many more. He’s also helped compose music for many video games.
Congratulations to Chris. We wish him the best!
