New Cedar Point Coaster Opening, and It’s Breaking Records
Summer is well on the way, and Cedar Point’s opening day is Saturday, May 4. This year, there’s a new Cedar Point coaster, and it’s breaking records. In addition to the new Cedar Point coaster, the park has some other new attractions for visitors, as it does every year.
New Cedar Point Coaster Opening
Cedar Point is the king of coasters, especially in our area. Over the years, they’ve launched some of the tallest and fastest coasters in the world. The park is home to the world’s first roller coasters more than 200 feet tall with the the Magnum XL-200 hyper coaster, more than 300 feet tall with the the Millennium Force giga coaster and more than 400 feet tall with the former Top Thrill Dragster strata coaster. This is why Cedar Point is such a thrilling destination for all ages. I remember going to the park in elementary school with the Girl Scouts. We had so much fun, and my dad was the only chaperone brave enough to go on all the rides with the girls. Going into high school and college, it was definitely still a thing to travel to Cedar Point for the wild rides. Adults enjoy the park, too. So, it’s really an all-ages experience.
As for the new Cedar Point coaster, the park is now where you’ll find the world’s “first and only reimagined strata coaster” in the Top Thrill 2. “With its three distinct launches, increased ride time of nearly two minutes and its second vertical tower, Top Thrill 2 makes its mark on roller coaster history and redefines the famous Cedar Point skyline,” the park says in a statement. “Riders join the CP Racing Team for an immersive experience, climbing into one of three sleek high-performance racing vehicles. Top Thrill 2’s trains feature open-air seating, providing heart-pounding views on the world’s first and only dual-tower vertical speedway.”
“Cedar Point has a long-lasting legacy of record-breaking roller coaster innovation and Top Thrill 2 delivers everything a thrill-seeker could want, including staggering height and speed,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “With the wide range of thrills for the whole family, Cedar Point is the place to visit this summer. We can’t wait for our guests to take their very first lap on the world-record-breaking Top Thrill 2.” Cedar Point is entering its 155th summer season.
