Michigan Hospital Expanding, Opening New Emergency Room
It’s always great to see a Michigan hospital expanding into new areas, especially if that means servicing an area that doesn’t have a large hospital. Now, a Michigan hospital is expanding and opening a new emergency room in an area that currently doesn’t have one.

Emergency rooms are an important part of any hospital network. They provide the quickest care to the widest range of people. These days, going to the emergency room can mean a really long wait, though. I’ve heard stories of people waiting at local emergency rooms for hours and hours before finally getting seen. That’s because there’s so much demand for health care right now. Now, one Michigan hospital is building a new emergency room in an area that needs one.
McLaren Health has announced that it will build a new emergency room in Grand Ledge. The emergency center will have 17 rooms and also offer imaging, lab services and primary care providers. The building will be located on the corner of Nixon road and Saginaw Highway, and McLaren will start developing the area this summer. If all goes well, McLaren says they’ll hope to open the new location in the fall of 2025.
According to McLaren, the new emergency center is part of a larger Michigan incentive to expand more into the community. “In a true medical emergency, the time to care is critical and can be a significant factor in the patient’s outcome,” Kirk Ray, McLaren Greater Lansing President and CEO, said in a statement. “With this development in Grand Ledge, those residents will now have a level of care located in their community that it had never had before, along with a number of other services to bolster its overall well-being. This is a community we are thrilled to serve, and we are proud to be in the position to do so.”
