There’s a movie called “172 Hours” starring James Franco. It’s about the adventurer who gets trapped in the rocks for 172 hours. Wild movie, and now this could be its sequel. No, nobody got stuck in any cliffs or rocks. However, a woman is attempting to break a world record with a 127-hour sing-a-thon.
127 hours is a long time! It’s a long time to do anything. Even your favorite activity! Singing for that long? Has to be an impressive accomplishment.
Woman Attempting To Break Record With 127-Hour Sing-A-Thon
Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, of Ghana, is trying to get her name added to the Guinness Book Of Records by attempting to sing for 126 hours and 52 minutes, according to Oddity Central.
The previous record had been standing for a decade. Now, Afua wants her name where that person’s was. Sunil Waghmare set the previous record after singing for 105 hours straight.
Now, Afua claims the title is hers! Her impressive feat is now being verified by Guinness Records and she is expecting them to rule in her favor in the coming days.
How Did She Do It?
This was no easy feat to accomplish! Seriously, think about how long 127 hours is! That’s more than 5 days! Can you imagine doing anything continuously for 5 straight days?
Personally, I lose my mind after a 5 hour car ride. Even the greatest movie in the world, if it’s more than 3 hours long it’s way too long! That’s right, even enjoyable activities can become a chore or annoying and unwanted if it happens for too long.
I know what you’re thinking, “the previous record was 105 hours why did she go 126 hours?!” Great question. She could have stopped after 106 hours and still claimed the record.
According to Oddity Central, she planned on singing for 117 hours but felt good so she kept on going. She only stopped when the doctors made her because she was showing signs of fatigue and mental stress.
I have a feeling this is a record that won’t be broken any time soon. That is, of course, if it’s deemed valid. Fingers crossed that she didn’t go through all of that to have it end up being void. Talk about a waste of time.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
